I know that you have many tutoring options.   Consider these questions as you investigate the competition.  I am confident you will agree that Superior Tutoring is the best service available.

What are the tutor’s qualifications?

A tutor must have a thorough understanding of their subject matter and know how to teach it.   Not all certified teachers have extensive training and experience teaching literacy skills.  How I am different – Teaching reading and writing are my passions.  In addition, to obtaining my Master’s degree in literacy and education, I have taken many classes to improve my understanding of the different stages of mastery.  That means that I have a sound knowledge of the best practices.  Furthermore, I have lots of experience.  I have had students make one grade level of growth in reading mastery in just weeks!

Does the personality of the tutor inspire the student?

We all know how the personality of a boss or a teacher can make all the difference in inspiring us to improve.  It’s no different with tutors.  The right tutor will encourage the student to try new skills.   The only way to test if the tutor and the student are a match in personality is to try a few sessions.  If you spend a bundle of money on evaluations and package deals just to find that the tutor is not suited to your needs, you may stay with an inappropriate tutor without making much progress or leave feeling cheated. How I am different-   My evaluation is free and without obligation.  I encourage people to try me out for a few sessions before buying one of my packages (and you never have to buy a package).  Therefore you have nothing to lose.

What type of tutoring service is offered?

There are two types of tutoring services.  One type, like Sylvan, offers a program to help the student learn new skills.  The traditional style helps a student with an upcoming test or project.  Both types of tutoring improve students’ grades, but the first type also allows the student to become more self-sufficient as his mastery increases.   The more traditional style helps the student get a good grade on a specific test or project.  Compare tutoring to fixing a flat tire.  The traditional tutoring is more like putting on a spare tire; it gets you to the repair shop, but doesn’t fix the flat.  The skill based program fixes the flat.  Most tutoring services offer only one type of service.  How I am different - With most students the skill-based program is optimal. The students’ confidence soars as they realize they increase mastery of more skills and do better in school subjects.  This decreases their dependence on the tutor.  However sometimes tests and projects come up before the student is able to tackle them independently.  At these times the skills-based program can be put on hold while we prepare for the upcoming test or project (these sessions do not count towards the guarantee).  It’s the best of both worlds.
